Step 2:
Choose to have make-up and hair done by one of our stylists/artists or make your own arrangements. An agreement form is required if you making your own arrangements.
Make-up is not always necessary for YOUTH | CHILDREN headshots. Parents and guardians can bring hair products for boys to stylize their hair. For girls, parents can stylize hair before hand or in studio. Curling it before session is a nice option if that is the look you are needing. Please bring any special clips, headbands, and beauty item to pin back hair. You can use our make-up table and outlets if you need to blow dry or add body to hair.
If there is a skin or an acne issues, a make-up artist is required. If client is not booking and artist, an agreement form is require plus the extra retouching fee of $75 per image. We highly recommend booking our stylists in these cases.

Step 4: PHYSICAL PREP
Looking natural and fresh for headshots is an art form that includes work and prep on the clients part. We suggest:
Clients drink lots of water and moisturize face daily for at least 1 week before sitting. Water helps skin tone and removal of toxins. Moisturizing is a great practice for skincare. We suggest this especially for our male clients as skincare is commonly not part of a daily routine.
Get lots of rest the night before. Getting rest will help relax your body and facial area (especially around the eyes).
Pick up chapstick and use it to condition your lips at least 1 week before session.
Those suffering from allergies should apply eye drops and take proper antihistamines before the session.
Make time to stay active and fit to prepare for your headshot sessions.
For Acting | Commercial | Modelling clients that need images showing their muscle or figure, we recommended consulting a personal trainer to prepare you for the shoot on tips during the sitting.
Step 5: CLOTHING
We suggest clients to bring more outfits to the session so we are able to help you with what looks good on you. Certain colour affect skin tone and clothing may show up differently in different lighting.
For CORPORATE BRANDING HEADSHOT clients, we suggest choosing colour and clothing to match the clients you work with.
For ACTOR | ARTIST clients, we suggest you find clothing to match the range and looks you will plan to have roles in.
Musician and Performers need to book a styling consult session if you are needing photography for album covers or for your full portfolio.
All clients booking a session will receive specific recommendations on clothing ideas and options depending on your final product needs.
Step 6: CORPORATE and COMMERCIAL ACTORS – TIPS
Even the best of actors get nervous or have trouble getting a photo when a camera is aimed straight at them.
Kenton and the team do provide coaching and posing for experienced and new clients
We suggest clients practice smiling with friends and smiling in front of a mirror
Both are necessary as your images need to connect with people and your clients.
Emotion versus Cheese – Think of 3 things or people that make you laugh. Write them down and bring that to our session as we may ask you about it during the session. The truth is saying “cheese” never gets you an authentic smile but a thought or memory, laughter, or joke will. How to capture that is our job.
Smeyezing is good. Ms. Banks is right. Smeyezign means “smiling with your eyes. ” We encourage you to practice it when you meet with people. Simply smile with your eyes and not your mouth or possibly not using words.
Get use to getting photos taken by others. Pass your smart phone around or get people to take snapshots of you to get relaxed in front of a camera.
